"Gabi Garbutt & The Illuminations are a lyrical soul-punk band from London. They released their first record in November 2019, which gained good radio play on Cerys Matthews, Steve Lamacq, and Chris Hawkins’s BBC6 music shows and on Radio X, including a live session on John Kennedy’s X-Posure show. In January 2020 they performed live on Cerys Matthews's BBC6 music show, who praised our music for being ‘lyrically at a level you rarely hear’ and ‘consistently brilliant.’
Gabi Garbutt has now signed to Trapped Animal Records and will be releasing their second record on 20th May 2022. The first single from the new record ‘Never Never,’ released 1st March 2022 has been played on Radio X and BBC6 Music, with Steve Lamacq calling it ‘a driven piece of feisty guitar pop.’ Gabi Garbutt & The Illuminations have supported a number of high profile acts on tour, including The Libertines at Paris L’Olympia, three German dates and at Kentish Town Forum on their recent tour. They have supported The Boomtown Rats at The Palladium, played Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings festival, toured the U.K and Ireland with Edwyn Collins, and have just joined Big Country of 23 dates of their U.K tour. "
